Legal system
The liberal legal system of the Principality of Liechtenstein contains elements drawn both from Austria as well as from Switzerland. In addition, following the Principality of Liechtenstein’s accession to the European Economic Area (EEA) in the year 1995, corresponding European directives have been implemented on an ongoing basis. This means that the current national legal system, notwithstanding certain unique features, is broadly comparable with those of the surrounding states.
